A FORMER mayoress of Scunthorpe has passed away following a two-year battle with lung cancer.Vera Taylor, 87, was mayoress to Councillor John Hunt for the 1992-93 year.Mrs Taylor was mother to Mr Hunt but following his divorce, was chosen to be his mayoress during his year of office.Mrs Taylor spent most of her life in the hotel industry, working in various hotels and roles.During her working life she also served as a secretary to former Conservative MP Jeffrey Archer.Mr Hunt, 70, said: "I...
