Plans to open a new Scunthorpe restaurant and takeaway at the corner of Cemetery Road and Cottage Beck Road have been dropped.
Instead, the developers are seeking approval to start trading as a convenience store, selling alcohol, newspapers, cigarettes and groceries under the name of The Corner Shop.
If planning approval is given by North Lincolnshire Council, suggested trading hours could be from 8am until midnight - seven days a week.
