A FARM shop owner has been recognised for improving the welfare of pigs.Meryl Ward, who manages Grayingham Grange Farm and Uncle Henry's Farm Shop near Kirton in Lindsey, has been awarded an MBE.Mrs Ward, 52, and her husband Steve have managed the farm, which provides pig meat and potatoes for the shop, since 1991.She said her initial reaction to being honoured was one of shock.Mrs Ward said: "I was told in a letter about five weeks before the announcement."My husband opened the letter...
