A rail service centre on the Scunthorpe Tata Steel works was hailed a world-beater as the 500-strong workforce celebrated the despatching of the one millionth tonne of track since the business opened in 2006.
The centre was developed in the former heavy section mill following a £130 million investment by the Corus steel company which sold the business a year later to Tata Steel.
