A GROUP of campaigners have launched a scheme to stop developers putting up homes on the site of a dried-up pond.The Friends of Ashby Pond group wants the concrete space to be given protected status amid fears up to 40 homes could be built on it.The group has been fighting for the restoration of the man-made fishing pond since it dried up in July 2011.Hundreds of fish had to be relocated – but after numerous meetings, the group was told water would not be pumped back in.Now locals say that...
