A MAN was led to safety when firefighters were called to a flat in Scunthorpe town centre.Humberside Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to a fire involving a first floor flat on Mary Street at around 7.40am this morning (Saturday, August 31).The crew used a hose reel to extinguish the fire, with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.The man was led to safety by firefighters and left in the care of paramedics.A smoke detector at the flat was fitted but not activated.
