POLICE were called to reports of a body spotted in the River Trent this afternoon.
Humberside Police was called at 12.43pm today (Friday), when it was reported that a body was believed to be in the water at Gunness Wharf.
Police cars and the police helicopter were sent to the scene.
The body found is said by police to be that of a deceased dog.

THREE dogs have been stolen from a home in Scunthorpe, leaving their owner "devastated".
Jamie Wilson returned home on Monday afternoon to find his side gate open, with all three dogs missing from their kennels.
All three dogs are described as Saluki cross-breeds, and are called Fin, Hazel and Lily.
Humberside Police confirmed it had received reports of three dogs being stolen from the property, on Bridges Road in Scunthorpe, and was investigating the incident.

THE air ambulance has been called to a "serious" lorry crash in North Lincolnshire.
The B1400 Kirton Road, between Kirton-in-Lindsey and Messingham, has been closed by Humberside Police after a lorry thought to be carrying clay overturned.
Yorkshire Air Ambulance is also at the scene, with two people in the lorry suffering what police say are non-life threatening injuries.
