A jury has been sworn in for the trial of a Lincoln man accused of attempting to murder Scunthorpe rugby player Matthew Probert.
Kris Bradley, 23, of Kent Street, denies attempting to murder Mr Probert during a night out in Lincoln city centre on September 1 last year.
A second man, Daniel Burrell, 22, of St Nicholas Street, has also pleaded not guilty to a charge of encouraging or assisting in the commission of an offence of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Wind turbine given go-ahead by planners
A wind turbine has been granted approval by North Lincolnshire Council.
It is a micro scale wind turbine measuring 14.97m to the hub and with 5.6m diameter blades.
The location is River Farm, Westfield Road, Barton.
A planning condition has been attached which requires the applicant to inform the council and Humberside Airport at Kirmington with one month of the turbine starting operation.

Rats running through people's gardens near rubbish-strewn park

Wilkinson store rebranded: Will Scunthorpe shops follow Wilko...
Famous retailer Wilkinson has taken the first step towards rebranding itself in North Lincolnshire.
It has replaced the name Wilkinson on nine signs at the company's store in Cary Lane, Brigg, and replaced them with Wilko lettering.
The new signs are on the front, side and rear of the store.
The company's head office has yet to say whether it plans to make similar changes at its stores in Scunthorpe town centre and Ashby.

Pizza takeaway to open smoking shelter on Doncaster Road,...
A takeaway pizza business in Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe, has been given the go-ahead to provide additional customer comfort.
This will be done by providing a smoking shelter and extended toilets to the rear of the premises.
Sicilian's Pizzeria received the necessary planning permission from North Lincolnshire Council.

Man rescued from house fire after wheelie bin shoved against back...
A MAN has been rescued by firefighters from a house blaze in Scunthorpe this morning (Tuesday).
The fire involved a wheelie bin which had been placed against the rear door of the property, on Cottage Beck Road.
Flames caused extensive damage to the door, at around 7.31am this morning, and smoke logging to the ground floor of the house.
The man had to be rescued from the property by firefighters, but did not require any medical treatment.

A shop chain has announced plans to start trading on a major retail park in North Lincolnshire within the next six months.
Clive Smith Butchers and Express Stores said: "The retail park development is confidential as negotiations are currently taking place.

A CYCLIST has been airlifted to hospital with 'serious injuries' after being involved in a collision with a car this morning (Tuesday).
The incident, which happened at around 9am on The Avenue, just outside Burton-Upon-Stather, resulted in police closing the road between the mini roundabout on Normanby Road and the junction of Wiltshire Avenue.
The cyclist has been taken by air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary.

£125k new water main installed in Brigg town centre to stop...
A complex project to replace a water main on the side of the landmark County Bridge in Brigg town centre will be completed by the end of this week.

North Lincolnshire Council has set its budget for the forthcoming year.
As expected, councillors voted to freeze council tax charges for the fourth consecutive year at the meeting, held at the Civic Centre in Scunthorpe last night (Tuesday, February 25).

SCUNTHORPE has a higher percentage of banned drivers than London, new statistics have revealed.Figures released by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency show in 2012 there were 61,156 registered drivers in the area. 'Stray horse' causing delays on Normanby Road in Scunthorpe
A stray horse caused delays for motorists travelling on Normanby Road this morning (February 26).
Humberside Police reported the stray horse was causing traffic delays on the road at around 7.50am.

TWO people have been arrested following a police pursuit this morning.
The pursuit – which police say lasted several hours – saw police track a reported stolen quad bike from the Louth area in to South Yorkshire.

Friends and family fund memorial to A18 road accident victim Jack...
Friends and family of A18 road accident victim Jack Barratt have provided a memorial to him.
Jack, 21, died in his home village of Wrawby following a the collision on February 3 last year.
Friends and family of the popular young man later raised more than £5,000 for charity.
