A DITCH close to the new Scunthorpe retail park being developed by Simons Group has been filled in after becoming a "dumping ground" for several years.
Simons arranged for the ditch to be levelled and replaced after the issue was raised by residents on the neighbouring Lodge Moor estate.
Colin Sargeant, project director at the Simons site, said: "The residents said they needed help with the management of a ditch that had become a health and safety issue.

WHY are the people of Scunthorpe so disrespectful of the facilities available to them?
I visited The Pods swimming pool on Sunday afternoon with my grandson and was disgusted at the scene that greeted us.

Caught short? What's happened to public toilets we were promised...
WHAT has happened to the public toilets we are supposed to be having in the town centre?
In last September's Scunthorpe Telegraph it reported the council was trying to get funding for them – it said in the next six to 12 months. We've not heard any more about it since then.
Are we getting any now or not? They are to build another college at the bottom of the town soon, but we still need the toilets.

Westbound carriageway of A18 Mortal Ash Hill closes for roadworks
MOTORISTS are advised that there is a contraflow (single-line traffic) in effect on the A18 Mortal Ash Hill.
Work is being carried out and the westbound carriageway will be closed until mid-August.
Drivers will use the eastbound carriageway and the two lanes will be divided by the contraflow.
The speed limit will be lowered to 30mph through the contraflow.

A MONITORING inspection of a North Lincolnshire secondary school has praised the response of staff.

A WOMAN who was seven months pregnant when she was involved in an alleged stabbing in Belton on Wednesday (June 11) remains in hospital in a 'stable condition'.
