FIRE crews used a saw to get into a Scunthorpe flat after an oven was left on inside. The incident happened today (Sunday) at about 5.20pm on Grosvenor Street North. A person was locked out of the flat with the oven left on inside and Humberside fire and rescue gained access to the property via a window using a reciprocating saw.

Be dazzled at wedding fayre in Scunthorpe tomorrow
Visitors to a wedding fayre in Scunthorpe tomorrow (Tuesday October 14) will "be dazzled," the organisers suggest.
The event is looking to offer "great ideas for your special day."
The venue is Heslam Park Club - the home of Scunthorpe Rugby Union Club and Scunthorpe Town Cricket Club - on Ashby Road.

Five North Lincolnshire pubs could change hands
GREENE King could be set to monopolise the dining out business in North Lincolnshire, if a takeover bid succeeds.
The Suffolk-based brewers have had one bid rejected for rival pub and restaurant chain Spirit.
But the bidders are due to make a further announcement by the deadline of October 21.
Spirit, which was split off from Punch Taverns three years ago, runs the Ashby Lodge, Warren Lodge and Royal Hotel in Scunthorpe, The Old Farmhouse at Gunness and The Gamekeeper at Scotter.

THE following were dealt with at the Court Centre in Laneham Street, Scunthorpe, with North Lincolnshire magistrates deciding and announcing sentences in each case:
STEPHEN BATES, 53, of Bottesford Avenue, Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to speeding. He was fined £100, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20, costs of £85 and his licence was endorsed with four points.
