POLICE are warning parents to take extra care to make sure that their children do not become victim to "online sexual predators".
The warning follows a court case in which a man arranged to meet someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl – but who was really an undercover police officer.
Alun Friend, 54, of Brigg Road, Barton, admitted two offences of attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming.

A FORMER pub landlord has avoided being sent to jail after admitting sexually assaulting a woman.
Andrew George Campbell, 50, of Crestar Drive, Scunthorpe, stood in the dock convicted of the charge despite his last-minute attempt to try to change his plea to not guilty.
Earlier this month, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton QC, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, rejected Campbell's bid - saying he had previously admitted the offence freely and voluntarily.

POLICE are still investigating an armed robbery at a Scunthorpe betting shop.
The incident happened at the Ladbrokes next to the Priory Hotel in Ashby Road on Tuesday November 1.
A punter in the shop at the time, John Dempsey, tried to tackle the knife-wielding robber but they got away.

Repair work set to begin on Scunthorpe flats following gas leak
Repair work on the main gas supply is set to begin next week at a block of flats in Scunthorpe.
Twenty-six flats at Trent View House were left without gas last Thursday after the National Grid was called out following a resident reporting the smell of gas.
Now, work will begin to repair the gas supply on Monday, November 21.

Council to swap energy suppliers in an effort to cut costs
North Lincolnshire Council is set to cut the cost of its gas bill by swapping suppliers through a regional contract.
The council's new supplier will be Corona Energy Ltd and procurement of the contract was made through the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation and will supply gas across all council buildings.
The organisation was used to make the process cheaper and to get a better deal on energy supply and will save around £40,000 in the next four years.
