SCUNTHORPE MP Nic Dakin has spoken in the House of Commons about the so-called "bedroom tax", calling for its abolition during a debate.
A Labour party motion calling for its abolition was defeated by 252 to 226.
The spare-room subsidy, or "bedroom tax", cuts housing benefit for social housing tenants - by 14 per cent for those deemed to have an extra bedroom, and 25 per cent for claimants with two or more spare bedrooms.

POLICE and Crime Commissioner Matthew Grove will consult with residents before setting the police precept for the forthcoming year.
Mr Grove has launched a survey consult with residents of East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire on the level of Council Tax they pay for their policing, known as the precept.
