CAROL MARGARET WHARTON, 19, of Boughton Avenue, Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to five dogs. She was given a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15.

Tata Steel is to recruit 30 apprentices and five trainee engineers this September.
It will be the eighth successive year in which the Scunthorpe works has taken on apprentices.
The year's number is below last year's intake of 55 due the present economic climate.
But site director Jon Bolton said: "We have to maintain skills for the future and the apprentices are the future lifeblood of Tata Steel."

A DRIVER has suffered head injuries after being involved in a crash and car fire this afternoon.
Lincolnshire Police were called at 3pm today (Sunday) to the single vehicle crash on the A159 Laughton Road, near Blyton.
