New Scunthorpe takeaway rejected by council
North Lincolnshire Council has turned down an application to operate a fast food outlet in Scunthorpe.
Planning permission was refused because of concerns about noise and how people living nearby would be affected, particularly at night.
Approval was sought to change the use of existing ground floor offices to a hot food takeaway (kebabs only) at 175 Frodingham Road.

Tata Steel in Scunthorpe having fashioned the frames for new P2 class steam locomotive No 2007 Prince of Wales, the heritage project has now progressed to ordering the eight 6ft 2in driving wheels.

Assault by beating: Scunthorpe man sentenced
The following offender was dealt with at the Court Centre in Laneham Street, Scunthorpe, with North Lincolnshire magistrates hearing the matter and passing sentence:
JOHN KENNEDY CHISHOLM, 29, of Eton Drive, Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was committed to prison for 16 weeks, suspended for 12 months, with a 12-month supervision requirement and a 180-hour unpaid work requirement. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £350 and costs of £85.

A slip road has been created within a couple of hundred yards of the Morrisons roundabout.
