THE Humber Bridge was closed to high-sided vehicles as a result of the strong winds from Hurricane Gonzalo in the region yesterday. And the southbound side of the bridge was closed due to an accident involving two vehicles.Officials at the Bridge Board confirmed the closure this afternoon (Tuesday, October 21).

UPDATE: Accident closes Humber Bridge
REPORTS say an accident has closed the Humber Bridge to motorists this evening.
It is not known the cause of the accident, but sources say the bridge is closed southbound.
This means motorists can't get from the North Bank to the South Bank.
UPDATE 6pm: The Humber Bridge has re-opened southbound following the earlier accident. Reports say there are still delays.

Scunthorpe man jailed over stolen goods & damage
The following offender was dealt with at the Court Centre in Laneham Street, Scunthorpe, with North Lincolnshire magistrates hearing the matter and passing sentence:
RICKY BENTLEY, 34, of Broadway, Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to dishonestly undertaking in the retention, removal, disposal or realisation of stolen goods, causing criminal damage and four offences of failing to surrender to custody. He was jailed for 14 weeks.

Blue Bell pub, Scunthorpe, staging beer festival
WOMEN brewers are getting the chance to shine during a 17-day beer festival which is now under way at the Blue Bell public house in Scunthorpe town centre.
Drinkers are able to enjoy 10 real ales from across the world, alongside 40 beers from the UK.
The overseas beers have been sourced from brewers – five of them female – in New Zealand, USA, Holland, Australia, Belgium and Italy.
The festival runs until Sunday, November 2, with all beers at £2.25 a pint.
