POLICE were dealing with an incident near the Humber Bridge this morning (Sunday, June 14). The A63 on the North Bank was closed in both directions at around 8am. The Humber Bridge was also closed following the incident with the roads reopening by 8.30am. Humberside Police were unable to provide further information.

Woman (86) treated after chip pan fire
AN 86-year-old woman had to be treated for smoke inhalation after a chip pan fire. The smoke alarm was activated after the fire, which caused slight smoke damage to a kitchen. Firefighters administered oxygen therapy to the woman who was suffering from "slight smoke inhalation". The incident happened at about 5.45pm yesterday (Saturday, June 13) at Cross Slack in Crowle.Humberside Fire and Rescue said the fire self extinguished before they arrived.

Firefighters tackle caravan blaze
FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a blaze which started in an abandoned caravan. The caravan was full of rubbish and four straw bales. A farmer assisted fire crews with a teleporter to remove further bales from the scene. The incident happened on Middlegate Lane in Melton Ross last night (Saturday, June 13) at about 8.35pm.

Update: Police incident on Humber Bridge
MORE details have emerged about an incident on the Humber Bridge this morning, which led to the road being closed in both directions. A man had been threatening to jump from the bridge, but was talked down by police after almost five hours. The A63 on the North Bank was also closed both ways between Hessle and North Ferriby.A spokesman for Humber Coastguard told the Hull Daily Mail its officers were called out at 3.20am and stood down at 7.42am.The bridge and the road reopened at 8.30am.

Child school attendance: Scunthorpe parent given court curfew
A parent has been dealt with by North Lincolnshire magistrates at the Court Centre, in Laneham Street, Scunthorpe, over a child's indifferent school attendance record.
SABRINA MILNE, 34, of Somervell Road, Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to failing to cause a child to attend regularly at school. She was given a 12-month community order with a supervision requirement and a one-week curfew requirement, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £100.

The following offender was dealt with at the Court Centre in Laneham Street, Scunthorpe, with North Lincolnshire magistrates hearing the matter and passing sentence:
CRAIG ARTHUR LOWTON, 54, of Axholme Road, Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty to two offences of theft. He was committed to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay compensation of a total of £32 and costs of £85.

Shop to become estate agency
A well-known estate agent have been granted permission to change the use of a vacant town centre shop so it can open new premises.
Lovelle asked North Lincolnshire Council for the go-ahead to alter a former soft furnishings shop at 3 High Street, Epworth.
It is planned to employ four people and to have a fascia sign saying Lovelle Estate Agents.
Suggested opening hours for the agency are 9am to 5pm on weekdays and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
