Liberty House Group interested in buying Scunthorpe mill
Industry sources report the Liberty House Group, which this week took over the former Tata Steel UK speciality steel business in South Yorkshire, has also expressed an interest in buying the Caparo Merchant Bar mill in Scunthorpe.
Liberty chief today declined to comment.
But speculation mounted after the company appointed British Steel's former commercial director Peter Hogg as chief operations director of Liberty Speciality Steels.

The £10 a head disco and pie and peas supper will be held at the Redbourn Social Club on May 26, starting at 7pm.

WELL-known singer Mick West has died in Scunthorpe General Hospital at the age of 69.
His bands in Scunthorpe included The Problems, Paighton Checks and The Whorehouse Girls.Mr West later left the town to live in London on The Great North Road, as a road manager for Island Records, travelling Europe with the 1970s blues-rock band Juicy Lucy.

A BANNED driver hurtled around streets at high speed while pursued by the police and drove up a ramp near old people's homes and through an archway, a court heard.
Mohammed Kamaly, 25, of Marsden Drive, Scunthorpe, admitted dangerous driving, driving while banned, having no insurance and obstructing a constable in the execution of his duty on January 15.
Jeremy Evans, prosecuting, told Grimsby Crown Court that Kamaly was in a VW Golf when he was spotted by police in the early hours.

Casualties taken to Scunthorpe hospital after hay lorry overturns...
TWO people have been taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital after a hay lorry overturned on the A15.
An air ambulance was scrambled to the incident, which happened at Waddingham earlier today (Friday, May 5).
The A15 is currently closed in both directions between Cliff Road and B1205 Kirton Road.
Diesel was spilled on the road along with the 36 hay bales.
Police have confirmed there was damage to the road with a 20m long gouge in the surface of the road.

MOTORISTS face delays after an accident on a North Lincolnshire road.
The accident happened this afternoon on the A1084 Bigby Road in Brigg.
The road was closed in both directions at the A18 Barnard Avenue /Bigby Road.

Firefighters called out to 'smell of petrol in property'
FIREFIGHTERS were called out to an incident involving a report of a petrol smell in a property earlier today (Friday, May 5).
Humberside Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident on Lindsey Street/Rowland Road in Scunthorpe after receiving a call at 12.35pm.
The fire service said gas detection equipment was used to detect any findings but nothing was found.
